Join us on March 3rd as we nominate our candidate for the 2018 provincial election. Ontario NDP leader and Hamilton Centre MPP Andrea Horwath will also be joining us at the meeting.

We're excited to have a contested nomination, with three candidates currently approved to seek the nomination:

Members of the NDP in good standing who reside within the boundaries of the Toronto Centre electoral district are eligible to vote. Please bring proof of address and proof of membership (e.g. email receipt if you have one) to speed registration. Members who were in good standing at the end of 2017 continue to be in good standing until March 31, 2018 -- therefore, if you were eligible to vote in the 2017 federal leadership race and you live in Toronto Centre, you are eligible to vote in this provincial nomination contest.

Registration will begin 3:00pm, and the meeting will be called to order at 3:30pm.

2018 Annual General Meeting

Your Toronto Centre NDP is pleased to invite you to an important membership meeting on Sunday January 28, from 1:30pm - 4:00pm. The meeting will be held in the ballroom at the 519, at 519 Church St. This is an accessible space. Please plan to arrive at 1:30pm to confirm your membership and receive your voting cards so we may begin promptly at 2:00pm. 

This meeting will serve as the Riding Association Annual General Meeting for both federal and provincial riding associations. At the AGM, a new executive will be elected. See below for a list of executive positions and information on how to express interest.

Membership

To participate in the AGM, you must be a member in good standing of the Toronto Centre NDP. Memberships will be available at the door for new and renewing members and payable by cash, credit card, or cheque. If you have recently moved to Toronto Centre and your membership is with another Riding Association, or if you have recently joined or renewed online, please bring your card or copy of your renewal email. If you live outside the boundaries of Toronto Centre, but would like have your membership moved to Toronto Centre, please bring proof of membership as well.

Any member of the NDP in good standing can stand for election to the Executive. As you can see, the list of positions is quite lengthy and not all are filled every year. Gender parity is an important principle for the Riding Association in choosing an executive, as is attention to representation from the many diverse communities in our Riding. If you would like to express your interest in standing for election prior to the meeting, would like to stand for a position but cannot attend the meeting, or if you have questions about what executive positions involve in terms of time and responsibility, please email to riding@tcndp.ca. Nominations, including self-nominations, will be taken from the floor at the meeting. For contested positions, each candidate will have two minutes to address the membership prior to the vote.


Resolutions & Delegate Selection Meeting

All Toronto Centre NDP members are invited to join us for our upcoming Federal Toronto Centre NDP General Meeting. This is a special Federal General Meeting to elect delegates and approve policy resolutions in advance of the February 2018 Federal NDP Convention in Ottawa. More information about the convention is available at http://ottawa2018.ndp.ca/

Also at this meeting, Federal members will elect riding delegates and debate local policy resolutions to be forwarded to the 2018 Federal NDP Convention to be held in Ottawa in February.

Registration will begin at noon.
The meeting will be called to order promptly at 12:30 pm. 

Agenda:

  1. President’s Welcome
  2. Delegate selection for Ottawa convention
  3. Debate and approval on resolutions

If you are unable to attend the meeting, but you would like be considered for a Delegate position, please forward your self-nomination in advance of the meeting to riding@tcndp.ca.

If you wish to suggest a policy resolution, it must be emailed in advance of the meeting to riding@tcndp.ca. Before submitting your resolution, consult the 2018 Convention ‘Guide to Resolutions’ available at http://ottawa2018.ndp.ca/ Resolutions must be in the Convention format in order to be put forward at the December 10 meeting. A member of the Toronto Centre NDP must be present at the meeting to move your resolution. Resolutions with more than one Toronto Centre NDP member signatory will be prioritized. 

Resolutions must be submitted to riding@tcndp.ca by 9pm on December 3, 2017. Resolutions from the floor will be considered on an emergency basis only.

Please come and meet your fellow members and help us select the best delegation for Ottawa!

Non-Members are welcome to attend. Of course, party memberships and renewals will be available at the registration desk.

True Colours Party 2017

The Toronto Centre NDP's True Colours party is back! On June 8 from 7 to 10 pm at the Glad Day Bookshop, join other New Democrats from across Toronto for the hottest party in town.
