Unions are a proven strategy to improve your wages and working conditions. Unions work — and you can ensure that the economic recovery is fair by unionizing your workplace.

This interactive 1.5 hour online workshop will prepare you to unionize your place. You will learn about how workers have defied the odds and their bosses for each other. You will have a chance to practice talking to your co-workers about forming a union. We will leave you with resources so that you know what to do next. We will connect you to union organizers so that you can take the next step.

We will be posting information about how to guarantee your privacy when watching this webinar. We will work with you to ensure that your boss does not find out.

This workshop will be recorded and circulated to those who sign up. We will ensure that the recording protects the privacy of those with specific privacy needs. Please register before to share your privacy needs.

About our presenter — Tania Li

Tania is an organizer with United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1006A. In her role with UFCW, Tania works to engage workers, raise awareness, and advocate for social and economic justice. Tania sits on the UFCW Canada Political & Legislative Affairs Committee, and Ontario Federation of Labour Political Action Committee.

Prior to joining UFCW, Tania worked for progressive politicians at the municipal and federal levels. During her time in the City Councillors’ and the Member of Parliament’s offices, Tania worked extensively with constituents and local community groups on LGBTQI2S issues, gender equity, community development, environment, housing, and immigration issues. She is an advisory board member of Progress Toronto and a past board member of Social Planning Toronto. As a member of the Toronto & York Region Labour Council Chinese Workers Network steering committee, Tania has been involved in organizing union activists in the marginalized communities and engaging them politically. Tania holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Economics specialist) from the University of Toronto.
